Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 June 2026

These terms govern your use of Koji (koji.kitchen), a personal food knowledge system operated from Australia (“Koji”, “we”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. They’re written to be read, not skimmed — they’re short.

1. Your account

Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself; you’re responsible for activity on your account. One account per person. You must be at least 16 to use Koji.

2. Your content stays yours

Recipes, ingredients, plans, notes, and everything else you put into Koji belongs to you. You grant us the limited licence we need to host, process, back up, and display it to you (and to anyone you choose to share it with) — that’s it. You can export everything, in open formats, at any time from Settings.

3. Sharing and other people’s content

Share links are public: anyone with the URL can view the shared recipe, plan, or list, without an account. Only share content you have the right to publish — a recipe transcribed verbatim from a cookbook usually isn’t yours to make public. If you believe content shared via Koji infringes your rights, email hello@koji.kitchenand we’ll review it promptly.

4. AI features and food safety

Koji’s assistant and generation features are powered by large language models. They are designed to respect the hard dietary rules you record, but they can still make mistakes, and ingredient names, labels, and formulations vary by product and country. Koji also works only from recipe and ingredient text: it cannot know about undeclared minor ingredients, manufacturer reformulations or substitutions, “may contain” warnings, or cross-contamination in kitchens and factories. Always verify ingredients and labels yourself, especially for allergies and medical diets. Nothing Koji produces is medical, dietetic, or nutritional advice.

Some sections present reference information— for example the regulations library and the regional-nutrition library (common regional nutritional deficiencies and food-fortification programmes). This is general, population-level information compiled from third-party government and scientific sources, provided with attribution to those sources. It may be incomplete or out of date, it describes typical regional patterns rather than any individual’s diet, and it is not individualised medical, dietetic, or nutritional advice. Consult a qualified professional before making dietary changes.

5. Fair use

Don’t abuse the service: no unauthorised access, scraping, reselling, attempting to circumvent AI usage limits, or using Koji to host unlawful content. We may suspend accounts that do.

6. Subscriptions, billing & refunds

Paid plans and add-ons are billed in advance each period, through our third-party payment processor, in the currency shown at checkout. You can cancel at any time — cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, after which your account returns to the free plan. If prices change, we’ll tell you by email before the new amount is charged.

We don’t generally refund the unused part of a billing period, or a period that renewed because the account wasn’t cancelled in time — cancel before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. We may still make exceptions at our discretion, such as an accidental renewal you tell us about promptly. Nothing here limits any non-excludable refund or remedy you’re entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law (see section 7) or the equivalent consumer law where you live.

7. Service

Koji is in active, early development. Features may change, move behind flags, or occasionally break. The service is provided “as is”, and to the extent permitted by law our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. If you acquire Koji as a consumer under the Australian Consumer Law, nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies the consumer guarantees and rights that law gives you.

8. Leaving

You can delete your account from Settings at any time — export your data first if you want to keep it. Deletion removes your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Changes and law

If we make material changes to these terms we’ll email you before they take effect. These terms were last updated on 23 June 2026, and are governed by Australian law. Questions: hello@koji.kitchen.
